Voice & Audio Data
Voice Conversations (Homeschool Assistant)
Our Homeschool Assistant supports real-time voice conversations using OpenAI's Realtime API over WebRTC. When you use voice mode:
- Your microphone audio is streamed directly to OpenAI's servers to generate responses
- Voice transcripts (your speech converted to text and AI responses) are stored in your conversation history
- Raw audio is not stored on our servers; only the resulting text transcript is saved
- A short-lived session token is generated server-side so your OpenAI API key is never exposed to your browser
- You can switch between voice and text modes at any time; your preference is stored locally in your browser
Graduation Pronunciation Recordings
For graduation events, parents may receive a private link to record audio pronunciations of their graduate's name:
- Recordings are captured in your browser using the MediaRecorder API and uploaded directly to our secure storage
- Audio files are stored in a private Supabase storage bucket accessible only to event administrators
- Access is gated by a time-limited token sent to your email — the link is unique to your family
- Recordings may be played back by ceremony administrators to assist with name announcements
- You may re-record at any time using the same link, which replaces the previous recording
How We Use Your Information

- Communication: Send important updates, event-related emails (including graduation invitations and pronunciation request links), and respond to your support requests
- Payment processing: Handle subscriptions and billing through secure payment processors
- Improve our platform: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix issues
What We DON'T Do With Your Data

Community Features & Public Content
Enate includes a community library where you can share curricula with other homeschool families. When you mark a curriculum as public:
- The curriculum title, description, subject, grade level, and content become visible to all users
- Your display name may be associated with the shared curriculum
- Other users can view and use your curriculum but cannot edit it
- You can make a curriculum private again at any time from your Library
- Personal notes, shopping lists, and schedule data are always private and never shared
When We Share Information
We only share your information in these limited circumstances:
Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party services who help us operate our platform. These partners are contractually required to protect your data. Key providers include:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
- Unsplash — stock photography for curriculum unit covers (search queries are sent; no personal data is shared)
- YouTube (Google) — educational video search and embedding for lesson resources
AI Services
Our platform uses multiple AI providers to power different features:
- OpenAI— powers the Homeschool Assistant (text chat and voice conversations), AI image generation (DALL-E), curriculum and lesson generation, and unit cover images. Your chat messages, voice transcripts, and curriculum prompts are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. OpenAI's data use is governed by their Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude)— powers the 3D Interactive Experience AI Studio, where admins describe a concept and Claude generates a self-contained Three.js experience. Content prompts and iteration instructions are sent to Anthropic. Anthropic's data use is governed by their Privacy Policy.
We do not share personally identifiable information (such as your name, email, or children's names) with AI providers beyond what is necessary for the feature to function. Family context sent to AI assistants is limited to general details like grade levels and learning styles — never children's full names or contact information.

Children's Privacy
COPPA Compliance:We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- We only collect children's information with parental consent — children do not create their own accounts
- Parents can review, edit, or delete their children's information at any time
- Children's data is never used for advertising or marketing
- We implement additional security measures for children's profiles
- Children's names and details shared with AI assistants are limited to what is needed for educational personalization
- Graduation photos submitted for registered students are stored securely and used only for event administration

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest

Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data
Secure Storage
Audio recordings and uploaded files are stored in private, access-controlled storage buckets
Data Retention
- Account data is retained for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Deleted curricula are soft-deleted and retained for 30 days to allow recovery, then permanently removed
- Chat history is retained until you delete it or close your account
- Pronunciation recordings are retained until the graduation event concludes or you request deletion
- Voice session audio is not stored on our servers — only the resulting text transcript is saved
- Generated images are stored in your conversation history and deleted when you clear the conversation
- Graduation photos and registration data are retained for the duration of the event and may be deleted upon request
